Here's a handy rduino shield: we have a lot of people looking for a dedicated and well-designed shield for data logging. We worked hard to create a cheap but mature design. Not only is it easy to assemble and adapt, it also comes with extensive documentation and databases.

You can quickly save file data in any FAT16 or FAT32 formatted SD card and you can read any plot, spreadsheet or analysis program. We even have a tutorial on how to plot your data using two freeware programs, including a real-time clock with the current timestamp of all your data so you know exactly when it happened!

Note that this project does not come with an rduino (you will need to use a shield) or SD card. However, it has an RTC battery. Now, GeoFire is welding and testing all parts, but no heads are installed. You'll need some basic soldering skills to put it together, but even if you don't have much experience, you can do SD card interfacing to a FAT16 or FAT32 formatted card in under 15 minutes.

The 3.3V level shifter circuit prevents damage to your SD card, and the Real Time Clock (RTC) keeps time even if one rduino is unplugged. Battery backup lasts for years, including SD card and RTC libraries and example code means you can quickly get soldered headers, circuits or sensor prototyping areas.

3 The built-in 3.3V regulator is a reliable voltage reference and operates reliably, requires a lot of power to run SD cards compatible with rduino UNO, Duemilanove, Diecimila, Leonardo or ADK/Mega R3 or higher. ADK / MEGA R2 or lower is not supported.
